The price of gold in Egypt Today Tuesday 02 September 2025

The global price of gold

Precious metals prices rose to record levels today on the back of hopes of lowering US interest rates and a weak dollar, as gold prices reached their highest levels in history today at 3,508 dollars per ounce, supported by expectations of an imminent cut in interest rates and growing concerns about the independence of the Federal Reserve. Low interest rates usually enhance the attractiveness of interest-free bullion.

Investors are also looking for safe haven assets in light of continuing geopolitical, economic and trade risks, and the recent rise in gold prices was after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated the possibility of cutting interest rates this month.
