Nvidia Surpasses Apple with Largest Share Buyback Authorization Increase
Nvidia shares rose 1.2% in pre-market trading after the company announced a $150 billion increase to its share buyback program, raising the total remaining buyback capacity to $235 billion through the 2028 fiscal year.
This new increase marks the largest of its kind for a publicly traded company, surpassing Apple’s $110 billion program from 2024. CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that the move reflects management's confidence in the company's growth prospects, driven by artificial intelligence and accelerated computing.
The stock's rise occurred despite a decline in major US indices—with the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq all falling—highlighting the positive impact of Nvidia's announcement on its share performance.
