Hong Kong’s Economy Accelerates to 5.2% in the Third Quarter, Surpassing Expectations

Hong Kong Achieves Strong Economic Growth Amid a Rebound in Global Demand for Electronics

Hong Kong’s economy grew by 5.2% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, accelerating from 4.2% in the previous quarter and exceeding market expectations.

On a quarterly basis, growth shifted to 1.9%—recovering from a contraction in the second quarter—supported by increased activity in financial markets and a rise in both government and consumer spending. Meanwhile, exports remained robust, with a 30.4% year-on-year surge in the export of goods, driven primarily by strong demand for electronics related to artificial intelligence.
