European Markets Await Inflation Data Amid Mounting Financial Pressures in France
European stocks rose slightly on Friday, attempting to recover after falling to three-month lows, amidst persistent pressure in bond markets and growing concerns regarding France's financial situation.
The STOXX 600 index climbed approximately 0.20%, while the DAX, CAC 40, and FTSE 100 indices posted similar gains. Despite this modest recovery, the STOXX 600 is on track to record a weekly loss of nearly 2%.
These pressures coincide with the yield on 10-year French bonds rising to its highest level since 2002, and the spread between French and German bond yields widening to over 140 basis points—the widest gap since the Eurozone debt crisis of 2012.
Markets are also awaiting Eurozone inflation data for September—with annual inflation projected to rise to 3.6% from 3.2% in August—while simultaneously monitoring US employment figures.
