Bitcoin Outlook: Inflows Return Amid Interest Rate and Liquidity Pressures

Bitcoin Outlook: ETF Inflows Return Amid Interest Rate Pressures and Declining Cryptocurrency Market Liquidity

Bitcoin ETFs listed on U.S. exchanges have regained positive investment inflows, signaling a return of some institutional demand despite ongoing pressures on the cryptocurrency market.

However, expectations regarding U.S. interest rates, a decline in the supply of stablecoins, and selling by some long-term Bitcoin holders remain factors that will influence market direction in the coming period.

Bitcoin ETFs Recover $110 Million

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $110 million, offsetting a portion of the $774 million in outflows during the previous two trading sessions.

Despite this improvement, monthly flows remained negative, with net outflows totaling approximately $202 million from the beginning of October through Monday, reflecting continued caution among investors.

Meanwhile, the price of Bitcoin fell 2.7% over seven days to reach approximately $79,500, coinciding with a drop in the cryptocurrency Fear & Greed Index to 48 points, within the neutral range.

Sales by Long-Term Bitcoin Holders Raise Questions About the Future Trend

On-chain trading data showed a decline in holdings among investors who have held Bitcoin for extended periods, as the balance held by the group with a holding period exceeding 18 months fell by approximately 345,000 bitcoins between July 30 and October 19, 2026, from 16.41 million to 16.06 million bitcoins.

This decline may reflect profit-taking following periods of holding and accumulation, but it does not necessarily signal the end of the long-term uptrend.

Market analysis suggests that the pace of selling by some long-term holders began to slow in October, a development that could ease supply pressures if it continues alongside a resurgence in investment demand.

On the other hand, selling pressure remains a potential risk, especially as Bitcoin trades below its recent highs.

Therefore, the impact of this data depends on the market’s ability to absorb the available supply and on buyers returning to current price levels.

Federal Reserve Decisions May Determine Bitcoin’s Direction

Cryptocurrency markets are awaiting central bank decisions, foremost among them the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting, amid expectations that interest rates will remain unchanged, while markets continue to bet on a potential rate hike in December.

Interest rate expectations influence Bitcoin by affecting risk appetite, the cost of funding, and the liquidity available for investing in highly volatile assets.

If interest rates remain unchanged—provided this aligns with market expectations and is not accompanied by hawkish statements—it could help stabilize prices. On the other hand, any indication that rate hikes may continue could increase pressure on cryptocurrencies, especially if it coincides with persistently low liquidity.

Bitcoin Outlook for the Near Term

Bitcoin’s near-term direction depends on the interplay of three key factors:

- Continued ETF inflows

- The evolution of long-term investor holdings

- The trajectory of U.S. monetary policy

The return of inflows to Bitcoin ETFs is an initial positive sign, as improved institutional inflows, a slowdown in selling, and the return of liquidity support a recovery scenario, while continued outflows from stablecoins and rising expectations of interest rate hikes could prolong the period of volatility and put pressure on prices.
