AMD Stock Soars on Expectations of New Processors Boosting Growth
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares rose by approximately 4.6% in premarket trading following the expansion of its partnership with Microsoft to deploy Helios Rackscale solutions on the Azure platform to support artificial intelligence applications, with systems expected to begin shipping in the second half of 2026.
The gains were also supported by anticipation of the Advancing AI 2026 conference, where analysts expect the unveiling of Zen 6 EPYC Venice processors and significant updates to the AI processor roadmap, products expected to boost the company's profit growth in 2026 and 2027.
Major investment banks, such as UBS, KeyBank, and Bank of America, also reinforced their positive outlook on the stock by raising their price targets and emphasizing the strong demand for server processors and AI chips, anticipating strong results in the upcoming earnings report.
The stock also benefited from the positive performance of the US stock markets and the semiconductor sector, but the momentum associated with the conference and the partnership with Microsoft gave AMD a better performance than its competitors, offsetting some of its recent losses.
