The Vice President of the European Central Bank, Luis de Gwendos, said today, Thursday

De Gwendos, a member of the European Central Bank, says there's still room for further raising interest rates.

He also commented on the banking crisis and described investment funds as the most important risk to financial stability in the euro area.
The banker confirmed that the future monetary policy movements of the ECB would depend on the data, pointing out that core inflation had proved to be more stable than expected.

This only underscores the prevailing feeling towards the ECB at the present time. There is certainly at least one further increase in the interest rate, but what happens next may remain somewhat difficult depending on the developments in the data in the coming months.
