China-US Tariff Conflict
China announced the imposition of new tariffs on March 9, 2025, and will take effect on Monday, March 10, 2025
In response to the tariffs recently imposed by the United States on Chinese imports, China announced the imposition of additional tariffs of 15% on imports of American chicken, wheat, corn and cotton, starting on Monday.
This escalation comes within the framework of ongoing trade tensions between the two largest economies in the world, as the two parties exchanged tariffs on a wide range of goods. US President Donald Trump had imposed 25% tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum, mainly targeting China.
In return, China imposed additional tariffs on US goods, including energy products and agricultural equipment, ranging from 10% to 15%.
It is noteworthy that these escalatory steps may affect the global economy, as many experts called for the need for dialogue and negotiation between the two countries to avoid the escalation of the trade war
