The Nikkei index closed lower on Thursday.
Japanese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the Nikkei index declining across several sectors. The transportation and telecommunications sectors were among the hardest hit.
Among the leading stocks that saw significant declines were Nikon Corp., down 10.2%; BayCurrent Consulting Inc., down 9.8%; and Konica Minolta, Inc., down 6.7%.
The Nikkei index itself fell by 0.75%.
On the other hand, Socionext Inc. was the top gainer, rising 7.1%.

The Nikkei index continues to trade within its daily supply zone near the 58,557 level. The index also saw a decline of 0.75% at the end of the Asian trading session, falling to 58,635.
Some corrections are still expected if the index falls and closes below the current supply zone.
