The global price of gold
This week gold is trading near a two-week high, although on Wednesday prices fell to the level of 3,360 dollars per ounce, as gold futures fell as risk appetite returned cautiously.
The precious metal rose at the beginning of trading this week on the back of growing concerns about the slowdown in the US economy and expectations of interest rate cuts, thus boosting the demand for safe havens and the attractiveness of interest-free bullion.
Recent US data point to a recession in the services sector and persistent weakness in the labor market and consumer spending.
The price of gold in Egypt
Gold prices in Egypt fell on Wednesday, as the 21st highest traded gold in Egypt is now trading at levels of 4575 pounds.
The price of 24-carat gold in Egypt also recorded levels of 5229 pounds, while 18-carat gold is trading at levels of 3921 pounds per gram.
On the other hand, the price of the dollar issued in Egypt fell to the levels of 48.30 pounds, while the dollar price inside the official banks in Egypt also fell to the levels of 48.50 pounds, and also the dollar price in the black market to the levels of 48.76 pounds.
