The price of gold in Egypt Today, Thursday, August 21, 2025
The global price of gold
Gold prices fell on Thursday near the levels of 3340 dollars per ounce, where gold consolidated today despite the declines during the Asian period, but it rose strongly in the previous session, and investors are looking forward to the annual Jackson Hole symposium of the Federal Reserve Board to anticipate monetary policy indicators.
Market participants are expected to focus on the statements of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, looking for indications on whether the central bank may oppose the forecast of monetary easing in the near term.
The minutes of the Fed's July meeting also confirmed that most policymakers remain more concerned about persistent inflation pressures than labor market concerns, while tariffs and trade policy have deepened divisions within the committee.
On the political front, President Donald Trump called for the resignation of Lisa Cook, the governor of the Federal Reserve, over allegations of mortgage fraud, and continued to press for lower interest rates.
