Gold prices have risen and futures have reached all-time highs on the Multi-Commodity Exchange - what is driving this rise ?
Gold prices continued their significant rises on the first of September, as precious metal futures recorded all-time highs on the Multi-Commodity Exchange.
Gold futures, which end in October, jumped by more than 1.5% to reach an all-time high at the levels of 3557 dollars per ounce.
The decline in the US dollar and renewed demand for safe haven contributed to supporting the rise in gold prices, as investors turned to gold amid ongoing uncertainty about US monetary policy.
Increased political pressure may accelerate the pace of interest rate cuts, with markets largely expecting a 25 basis point cut in September, a development that remains supportive for bullion.
Recent US data also showed core personal consumption expenditures inflation rose by 2.9% year-on-year in July, the fastest since February, while consumer spending jumped at its highest pace in four months, indicating the resilience of the economy.
These figures kept the expectations of a September interest rate cut unchanged, as the Fed governor, Waller, supported a 25 basis point cut and further easing in the coming months.
Mary Daly, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, also noted that policymakers may be ready to cut interest rates soon, noting that tariff-induced inflation is likely to be temporary.
The price of gold in Egypt
Gold prices in Egypt rose on Monday for the fifth consecutive day in a strong way,as the 21st highest traded gold in Egypt is now trading at levels of 4715 pounds.
The price of 24-carat gold in Egypt also rose to levels of 5389 pounds, while 18-carat gold is trading at levels of 4041 pounds per gram.
On the other hand, because the dollar price moves a lot inside Egypt, and the price of dollars issued in Egypt is trading today at the levels of 48.30 pounds, and the dollar price inside official banks in Egypt is also trading at the levels of 48.64 pounds, and also the dollar price in the black market is around the levels of 48.91 pounds.
