The global price of gold

Gold prices stabilize ahead of US inflation data

Gold prices are now trading near the levels of 3,750 dollars per ounce on Friday, with the US dollar falling today despite yesterday's rally after the release of stronger-than-expected economic data has tempered expectations of an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve ahead of the key inflation report.

Market expectations for an interest rate cut next month fell to 85% from 90% before the jobs data.

Investors are now focusing on today's PCE price index, the Fed's preferred inflation indicator, for further guidance on the direction of monetary policy.

The precious metal remains stable near historical levels and the demand for a safe haven is growing after the recent tariffs imposed by President Trump, as well as escalating geopolitical risks due to tensions over Russian incursions into NATO airspace.
