The price of gold in Egypt Today, Friday, July 18, 2025

The global price of gold

Gold prices rose on Friday with the end of the trading week to trade near the levels of 3,355 dollars per ounce, but so far they are on a slight weekly loss amid uncertainty about interest rate cuts imposed by the Federal Reserve.

High interest rates usually weaken the attractiveness of interest-free bullion.

However, the precious metal is still up by 27% since the beginning of the year so far, due to geopolitical risks and concerns about the US dollar-denominated assets with its decline.

Gold prices have been trading in a narrow range recently, as the market is waiting for clarity on US trade policy, tariffs, and expectations of interest rate cuts.
