The global price of gold

Gold prices fell on Wednesday despite the decline in inflation data represented by the US Consumer Price Index, which came weaker than expected on Tuesday.

The precious metal experienced a sharp decline at the beginning of the week, as the US-China Trade Agreement boosted risk appetite, and then stabilized overall on Tuesday, as the latest US inflation data reinforced optimism about interest rate cuts later this year, and low interest rates usually increase the attractiveness of non-interest-generating bullion, enhancing the attractiveness of gold as a safe haven.
