The global price of gold

Gold prices rose above the levels of 3230 dollars per ounce on Tuesday, as persistent concerns about the US economic outlook and the fiscal deficit continued to support the demand for safe assets.

Moody's lowered the credit rating of the United States, the reasons for this reduction were high debts and much higher interest than those recorded by countries with a similar rating.

The market's attention is now turning to the speeches of a number of Fed officials later today, which may provide more clarity on the expectations of the central bank's policy and the health of the US economy.

On the geopolitical front, US President Donald Trump said on Monday, after a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, that Ukraine and Russia will begin negotiations on a ceasefire, but perhaps without US intervention.
