The global price of gold

Gold is rising to a new record high at the levels of 3500 dollars per ounce as concerns grow about the independence of the US Federal Reserve and the global economic outlook.

The precious metal has risen by almost 30% since the beginning of the year so far, supported by safe haven demand in the wake of the escalation of the US trade war over tariffs, and threats by the Trump administration to fire Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Gold is perhaps the only safe haven left due to its relative immunity from the vagaries of Trump's social media accounts.
