The global price of gold
The price of gold rose towards 3,345 dollars per ounce on Thursday, before making some corrections now near the levels of 3,325 dollars per ounce and we expect further downward corrections today, as the precious metal made gains for the fourth session in a row, reaching its highest level in almost two weeks, as investors seek safe haven assets amid growing concerns about the US financial outlook.
Geopolitical tensions have increased the attractiveness of gold, with the continuing unrest in the Middle East, and the emergence of signs of President Trump's withdrawal from mediation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
On the other hand, Chinese customs data showed that gold imports rose to an 11-month high of 127.5 tons in April, up 73% from March, driven by strong demand and the issuance of additional import quotas by the central bank during the peak of trade tensions between the United States and China.
