The global price of gold

Gold prices retreated strongly on Thursday around the levels of 3,140 dollars per ounce after hitting the bottom of the day near the levels of about 3,120 dollars, maintaining a decline of 2% from the previous session, and reached its lowest level in almost 5 weeks, as the easing of global trade tensions led to a decrease in demand for safe haven assets.

The United States and China have agreed on a significant reduction in tariffs, started a 90-day break to complete a broader deal, and more deals are now being worked out with major trading partners, as Trump referred to ongoing negotiations with India, Japan and South Korea.

Geopolitical risks have also receded, with tensions between India and Pakistan stabilizing and optimism growing that Trump could lift sanctions on Syria during his visit to the Middle East.

On the other hand, traders are now waiting for the figures of the US Producer Price Index and US retail sales for more indications about the prospects for monetary policy.
