The price of gold in Egypt Today, Thursday, March 20, 2025

The global price of gold

Gold prices fell on Thursday after the precious metal managed to achieve a new record high today near the levels of 3057 dollars per ounce, after the US Federal Reserve indicated that it is likely to cut interest rates twice during 2025.

Fed officials decided to keep interest rates steady at a meeting on Wednesday, in line with market expectations. The Fed also announced its intention to cut interest rates by 50 basis points this year. While low interest rates are usually a positive thing for non-interest-earning bullion, the precious metal retreated today thanks to the rise in the US dollar after policymakers acknowledged rising inflation levels.
