The global price of gold
Gold prices rose strongly on Monday to the levels of 3,355 dollars per ounce, as President Donald Trump's new threat to impose tariffs was stimulated, as Trump said that he would double the current tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from 25% to 50%, starting from June 4.
Adding to the market's concern, Trump accused China of violating the tariff truce reached in early May, a claim to which Beijing responded with accusations of its own to the United States of wrongdoing.
On the geopolitical front, a Ukrainian drone attack destroyed more than 40 Russian aircraft inside Russian territory, while Moscow bombed Ukraine with missiles and drones, just hours before the two sides met for a new round of direct talks in Istanbul.
