The global price of gold
Gold prices rose on Monday with the beginning of the week's trading to a new record level, and became close to the next target at 3400 dollars, where the price of an ounce is now trading at 3397 dollars, as investors resorted to a safe haven from the severely affected stock and bond markets.
Gold futures have also risen by about 30% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P 500 index has fallen by 10%, driven by concerns about President Trump's tariffs.
Gold often rises when the dollar weakens. This is due to the fact that gold is priced in dollars, which makes it cheaper for holders of foreign currencies that are getting stronger now.
