The global price of gold
Gold prices fell today with the appreciation of the US dollar, as gold prices fell to reach 3,290 dollars per ounce, as the precious metal is moving towards recording a total weekly loss, although it is still up by more than 22% since the beginning of the year so far.
Gold seems to be under pressure from the strength of the dollar, and the market's attention is now turning to the release of personal consumption expenditure data later on Friday, which is the Federal Reserve's indicator for measuring inflation.
This Inflation Report is expected to show that prices moderated last month, which opens the way for the board to ease monetary policy.
The price of gold in Egypt
Gold prices in Egypt fell on Friday, as the 21st highest traded gold in Egypt is now trading at levels of 4600 pounds.
The price of 24-carat gold in Egypt also recorded levels of 5257 pounds, while 18-carat gold is trading at levels of 3943 pounds per gram.
On the other hand, the price of the dollar issued today in Egypt fell slightly higher to the levels of 49.60 pounds, while the dollar rate inside the official banks in Egypt fell to the levels of 49.80 pounds, the dollar price in the black market also fell to the levels of 50.05 pounds.
