The global price of gold

The price of gold fell to a 4-week low of USD 3,265 per ounce.

Fading geopolitical risks and receding fears of a long-term trade conflict have led to a decline in safe haven demand, and markets viewed a trade agreement between the United States and China on Thursday on how to speed up shipments of rare metals to the United States as a positive sign, amid efforts to end the tariff war between the world's two largest economies.

With the White House downplaying the importance of the upcoming deadlines for tariffs, which indicate the possibility of extending them again, further easing trade concerns.

On the other hand, investors continued to evaluate the expectations of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, as reports indicate that President Trump may announce his nominee for the post of Fed chairman as early as September or October, and is likely to prefer a candidate who supports easing financial conditions.
