ECB member Villeroy is likely to start reversing the interest rate cycle next week

ECB Governing Council member and Governor of the Bank of France Francois Villeroy de Galhau said on Tuesday that there is a high probability of starting a reversal of the interest rate cycle in the first week of June.

Villeroy said during an event organized by the Prudential and decision supervision body of the Bank of France we will most likely begin to reverse the interest rate cycle next week.

He also said that cross-border bank mergers should be easier in Europe as if they were within a single European country.

In addition, although the current rules are considered integrated, additional charges include and sometimes include host country-based entities on capital and liquidity and their subsidiaries.

French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier this month that the banking sector in Europe needs further integration, even if that means the purchase of a large French bank by a European competitor.
