Bank of Japan's Nakamura Says Timing of Monetary Policy Shift Is Hard

The statements of Bank of Japan policymaker Toyuki Nakamura were as follows: -

- It would be risky to change policy on the assumption that things will improve as Japan's economy moves forward
- Now is not the time to consider a policy shift
- We can shift policy when Japan's economy sees wages and inflation rise sustainably
- We want to scrutinize corporate profitability in judging the timing of policy turnaround
- Given the forthcoming quarterly business sentiment survey from the Ministry of Finance among other data to gauge whether conditions are appropriate for any policy shift.

That's been the case all year now, as they keep putting things off as they promote a change in policy but don't want to stick to it aggressively.
