Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey's remarks during the press conference

The level of the bank interest rate remains appropriate.

We have not yet reached the point where we can lower interest rates.

It's not as simple as seeing inflation return to the target in the spring and getting the job done.

But things are moving in the right direction.

We have to keep monetary policy sufficiently restrained for long enough.

How long this will take and how long the high rates will remain depends on the data received.

There are no clear directions on the schedule of interest rate cuts.
