Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey confirms that the Bank of England will cut interest rates this year

Speaking to the Financial Times on Friday, he said:-

- All our meetings are in progress, we make a new decision every time.

- We need confidence that wages are going in the right direction.

- There is no need to wait until inflation drops to 2% before cutting interest rates.

- Recent economic developments are obviously good news.

- The work on inflation has not been completed, but what we see is encouraging.
