Bank of Atlanta President Bostick makes statements about inflation

The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Rafael Bostick, said:

- There is still a lot to do about inflation.

- The labor market is still very strong by historical standards so far.

- We cannot wait until inflation reaches a very large percentage to move away from the restrictive position.

- Inflation fell faster than expected, unemployment rose more than expected.

- We must postpone the reduction of interest rates to the third quarter.

- They should wait for more data before lowering interest rates.

- It would not be good to lower interest rates only and then have to raise them again.

Bostick showed opposition to Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's comments in Jackson Hole last Friday, when Powell indicated that the Fed is ready to cut interest rates in September.
